Planck 2013 results. XXVIII. The Planck Catalogue of Compact Sources
The Planck collaboration
Astron. Astrophys., submitted (2013)
The PCCS contains four types of flux densities for each source, obtained using different methods.
As discussed in The Planck Collaboration, 2013, the appropriate value to be used depends on
the nature of the source considered. For the SSDC SED Builder, we used flux densities derived from the detection method for frequency bands from 30 to 217 GHz.
At the three highest Planck frequency bands, namely 353, 545, and 857 GHz, we used flux densities derived from aperture photometry if the signal-to-noise ratio for this photometry was larger than 3, and from the detection method otherwise. In fact, this is a good choice for all unresolved sources that are usually considered for this tool. However, note that flux densities may be biased for resolved bright sources.
For these cases, we recommend to select a different photometry type from the original catalogue and load the flux densities into the tool as explained in the User Data area, available to registered users. As explained in The Planck Collaboration, 2013, flux densities are not color corrected.
